What Causes Painful Twinges Inside The Vagina?

Hi, I keep getting painful twinges inside my vagina, they come and go usually lasting only a second and sometimes this may only happen every few weeks. My boyfriend complains that he has an itchy sore penis for about a week after we have unprotected sex. Also occasionally it burns after I pee but this comes and goes and may only happen every few weeks. I don t really have any discharge or itching or burning. I had an STI test 6 years ago which was all negative and I have had the same sexual partner since then so I don t think I could have contracted an STI in that time. Could this be thrush? Can thrush cause vaginal twinges?
