What Causes Painful Ulcers On The Tongue And Numbness Around The Ears?
Hello, my tongue got a sore on the side almost 4 months ago. These have now turned into cracks. They are extremely painful. Sometimes i wake up with it stinging and hurting. Spicey foods, temperatures too hot or too cold, toothpaste and mouthwash all make it burn even more, but the pain is becoming fairly constant. I have also been having neuralgia or numbing around my ear, especially behind it. This is also increasing, and spreading. I have been having a lot of headaches as well Any idea what ails me Doc.?
As per your complain a persisting sore on tongue since 4 months is not a normal sign and should be evaluated as non healing ulcers can be malignant.. Get a biopsy done to rule out the exact cause of it and will be treated accordingly.. To relieve soreness and pain you can take Ibuprofen and apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine..
Numbness behind the ear can be due to nerve compression or impingement that can be localized or can be at the level of spine.. So for this consult a Neurologist and get evaluated and an MRI scan can help in diagnosis and will be treated accordingly..
Hope this helps..
Regards
