What Causes Painful Urination And Swelling In The Ankles?

My wife is experiencing what we thought was a UTI. She is prone to UTIs and that is why we thought it was a UTI but these symptoms have worsened. She is experiencing frequent pain when she urinates. Her urine is cloudy and she says it has a distinct smell, calls it a foul smell. Additionally her ankles are now swollen. One foot is tender to the touch. Above the same ankle her leg is a bit swollen. The UTI symptoms began 2 - 3 weeks ago and the foul urine smell accompanied the UTI symptoms. The swollen ankles came about less than a week ago.

Hi, I think you should do a urine routine and microscopy and culture to see if there is any infection. Also get a hemoglobin level, renal function test , thyroid profile and a ultrasound to see the kidneys, ureter and bladder. Consult a physician for proper examination. You may need some antibiotic. Hope it helps.
