What Causes Painful Vaginal Canker Sores With Itching?

For the past week I have had a sore throat and sores on my tongue. i have always gotten canker sores in my mouth over the years. But now there appears to be canker sores in the outer part of my vagina which are painful to the touch and also itchy. I have gone to see my doctor and am now waiting for my swab tests to come back. any idea what this could be?
