What Causes Painful White Bump At The Tip Of The Tongue After Dental Filling?

I had a couple cavities filled three weeks ago and the next day got a white painful bump on tip of tongue. A week later it felt like it was getting better. Had to go back for another cavity to be filled and now 3 weeks after it appeared, the white bump has gotten worse. It feels like a knot in the tip of my tongue and is extremely painful. I have tried everything to get it to heal. Help!

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that the white bump at the tip of your tongue that is painful to touch looks most probably be an Apthous Ulcer or Canker Sore..
It might have occurred due to traumatic injury to tongue tip during filling with the filling instrument..
It can also be due to causes like Nutritional Deficiencies, any sharp cusp of tooth that the tongue might be hitting with, excess intake of sour foods etc..
I would suggest you to apply a numbing gel containing Lignocaine over it to relieve pain..
You can also apply Steroid ointment like Triamcinolone Acetonide over it..
Do warm saline gargles..
Gargle with antiseptic mouthwash..
Take a Vitamin B complex daily for a month..
If still doesn't improve consult a Dentist and get evaluated...

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
