What Causes Painfully Swollen Ankles And Knees?

I have been having some troubling symptoms. My legs have had severe edema. My doc gave me lasix and that has helped some. I steel have band of pain around my knees and ankles. They feel like they are still swollen and there is a fair amount of patience n. Walking is difficult. I have shortness of breath with any activity ( going. To bathroom etc) the doc ruled out congestive heart disease and is sending me for an ultrasound. Today I woke up feel gross. I am nauseous, all joint hurt, I have leg cramps and feel dizzy off and on. I hate to bother my doc again if it s nothing . What do you think.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor services.
I have read your query and here is my advise.

* Multiple joint pains and swelling in absence of congestive heart
disease can be part of degenerative arthritis or rheumatoid with
systemic inflammatory response via cytokines and else mechanics.

A blood panel with particular rheumatoid factor, Anti CCP , ESR and x-ray of more painful joints do give best results of further diagnosis and care accordingly.

Thank you.
Regards.
