What Causes Painfully Swollen Lump Below The Knee?

Hello. Beginning yesterday, there is a pain in the left leg below the knee. It is slightly swollen and I can feel a small lump underneath. The area of the leg is extremely painful, making it difficult to walk with ease. I ve rubbed it in a mentholated balm. No ease yet.
