What Causes Painless Dent Above My Ankle?

I just noticed a small patch on my lower leg about two inches above the ankle. It feels like a dent and I can see a faint outline around the patch. It doesn't feel painful but pressing on it I can feel a dent, like part of my leg is now missing. What is it?
