What Causes Painless Unremarkable Ulcer On Penis?

A 58-year old male developed one painless unremarkable ulcer on the vermilion of his lip and three painless unremarkable ulcers on the shaft of his penis one week ago. Punch biopsies were performed. The report noted the findings were not entirely specific, failed to reveal viral cytopathic changes, were negative for syphilis. There was no palpable lymphadenopathy. One ulcer healed on the lip and two healed on the penis with Neosporin Ointment after one week.

Hi,

If you had unprotected sex - need to rule out sexually transmitted infection doing a panel of sexually transmitted infection can help find the cause. If your ulcer are healing for antibiotics then it can be due to bacterial infection.

I hope I have answered your query. If you have further doubts, I would be happy to help you.

Regards,
Dr. S. R. Raveendran, Sexologist
