Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Palpitation With History Of Depression And Panic Disorder?
I am running low on Metoprolol Tartrate and can only take 1 a day instead of the prescribed 2 a day. Around 9pm I can feel my heartbeat and it feels fast in my chest. I have depression and panic attack disorder. I am just wondering if the symptoms are panic attack related or anxiety related, or my blood pressuer.
As you are on propranolol which is a beta blocker group medicine, so you should not go against medical advise and should not adjust the dose with your own. There are many reasons of palpitations. Propranolol is a good medicine to control palpitations as well as depression.
I advise you to follow the guide line given by your physician and take the dose according to medical advise. Please consult a psychiatrist also for panic attack and depression.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Fatima Clinic, Internal Medicine Specialist
