What Causes Palpitations While On Vitamin D Supplement And Allegra?

I have taken Allegra D for yrs. for sinus problems. I have been under much stress losing my Mother last Nov. and in charge of her home and going through all her lifetime things. My doctor did tell me to quit taking these bills with D. However, I tried just plain Allegra and it did not stop the dripping nose. This past week I have had a racing heart and palpitations. After reading the article, BINGO, this could very well be my problem. I have cut the pills in half even. I have noticed since I took my vitamins and 1/2 allegra D...the pounding is back. I will definitely quit taking them. Any other suggestions? Thank you.

Hi,

The plain Allegra wouldn't help with a runny nose because it does not contain the decongestant. Decongestants can cause palpitations and affect the blood pressure, the changes are temporary and return to normal when the medication is discontinued.

If you are having issues even without the use of an oral decongestant then there may be another cause and you may need to be assessed.

A topical decongestant like normal saline or Otrivine, may be helpful to relieve your symptoms.
