Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been having heart palpitations for a while now. I was diagnosed with hypo thyroid 2 years ago when this started but these symptoms keep happening. I have been to a cardiologist and he told me to cut out caffeine, that helped for a while but it still occurs on a daily basis. I try to watch what I eat and exercise daily. He did an EKG and that came out normal. I thought maybe it was nerves and my doctor put me on Welbutrin and an aniexity medication Clonazepam, when needed. I very rarely take it although it seems to help.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Based on the fact that Clonasepam helped it can be due to anxiety. I suggest you to continue the medications prescribed by your doctor. Some other advice that I can give to you are: -Reduce stress and anxiety -Avoid stimulants such as caffeine or nicotine. -Avoid drinking alcohol. -Avoid medications that are stimulants, such as cough and cold medications Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
