What Causes Pancreatitis Suddenly?

Hi my fiance is in the hospitol right now he has pancreatitis...the doctors are not sure why...he doesnt drink excessively and had an ultrasound done to check for gallbladder stones, which came up negative. We have been in the hosp since tuesday night and his amalyse and lipase went down yesterday and now have slightly elevated again...? WHY

Well, biliary stones and alchohol are the most common but not the only causes of pancreatitis. It may be caused by metabolic issues such as hyperlipidamia, hyperglicemia or hypercalciemia. Also, some medications may cause it as well so these should be checked by his doctor. . However, at this point it is improtant for him to recover as soon as possible andthen right cause can be established. He should later check his hormonal and calcium levels and in next 2 months have low fat diet.
