Hello
Thanks for your query.
There are many causes of diaphragmatic paralysis like surgery in the head neck and thorax region, trauma to the chest, infections, neurological disorders, myopathies and sometime idiopathic. There is no effective treatment of diaphragmatic palsy and unilateral palsy many a times do not require treatment. Diaphragmatic pacing is effective sometimes and plication is also helpful. Above all there is non-invasive ventilatory support to counteract diaphragmatic weakness. Discuss these issues with a cardiothoracic surgeon.
Thank you.
