What Causes Partial Loss Of Vision After A Retinal Detachment Repair Surgery?

Yes, I had surgery 7 months ago to correct a retinal detachment. From the time the surgery was performed and forward I have been unable to see anything clearly out of this eye. My ophthalmologist noted three issues: a cataract in the affected eye, minor scar tissue on the retina and 90% damage to the optic nerve. Prior to surgery my vision was fine in the portion of the eye that was not affected by the detachment. Is this a common risk when undergoing surgery for retinal reattachment? Thanks for any help in advance.
