What Causes Passing A Large Blood Clot After Having Periods?

i just had my period about a week ago. Last night, after 5 days without having my period i felt something in my underwear. I went to the washroom and a huge blood clot plopped out. this happened for a few hours with some minimal cramping but in the morning nothing was there.Could this be left over from my period? Was this potentially a miscarriage?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi dear..Thanks for writing to HCM!!!
You are having late bleeding due to progesterone hormone,it is possible sometimes but I advise you to get your FSH,LH,progesterone level checked and also do the USG and consult gynaecologist to check any internal problem as it is possible due to other causes such as trauma, fibroid, Dysfunctional uterine bleeding etc. for irregular bleeding Tab progesterone or combined pills can be taken but under the observation of specialist. For cramps you can take Tab Ibuprofen and hot packs.
Hope this one clears your doubts
Thanks and regards
