What Causes Passing Large White Clots Along With Menstrual Flow?

I am passing large white clots during my menstrual flow. About 4 inches long 1 inch wide. Blood flow is very minimal and having abnormal pains in my lower abdomen. My periods are normally 3 days going from a slow flow day 1 and faint spotting day 3 with no pain or any other systoms that are considered normal for periods. I have had 3 healthy pregnancies and my tubes tied almost 5 years ago. Should I be concerned by the white clots and pain?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The white clots may be related to endometrial lining shedding out during period. Also, having any candida infection may look like white clots. You may need to do a vaginal smear to get checked for candida or other infections.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
