What Causes Passing Of Dark Urine?

I am urinating with dark yellowish color in the late morning and early afternoon and not other times. I feel Iam drinking enough water daily. I am taking B-12 (2000) and also multivitamins daily in the morning. I would like to know what causes it. Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
I have read your history carefully.
B complex vitamins are water soluble vitamins. Excess of them are excreted in urine.
Dark yellow urination may be due to many reasons like exposure to heat, low water intake or as a result of raised bilirubin in blood like in jaundice. But in your case, it seems to be simply due to multivitamin and B complex supplements you are taking. It is harmless and dose dependent. It will go away if you stop taking vitamins.
Hope this will be helpful.
Take care.
