What Causes Pea-sized Lump On The Inside Of Tongue?
Hi Dr. Rynne,
Last night I felt a lump inside of my tongue. When I press on my tongue, it feels like it's the size of large pea. It hurts when I touch it or eat and hit it but to just speak or rest it, I feel no pain. I just got over being sick for over 5 weeks with pneumonia, bronchitis, strep throat, sinus infection and severe conjunctivitis in both eyes. I was subscribed 11 different meds and two of them were antibiotics. Could this be from my illness? and which type of Dr. should I see, ENT or GP?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... As per your complain a tender lump inside the tongue can be due to allergic reaction with any of the medication or it can be due to any sharp edge of the tooth causing continuous irritation leading to formation of inflammatory lump.. It can also be a canker sore which has not yet ulcerated..
Nothing to worry, consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and treatment can be planned according to the diagnosis.. A confirmatory diagnosis can be done by doing a biopsy..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
