What Causes Peeling Skin And Scab Formation On Scar Site?
I have had triple by-pass surgery just under twelve months ago and it has left me with scars on my right leg and left for arm where they removed the veins. Last week I peeled some flaking skin off my scar on the leg and it was a very small amount, very small an didn t leave any marks. On the weekend I notices a red spot where I peeled the skin off and just five mins ago I noticed what looks like a scab, could it be congealed blood? And should I be worried. I scratched at it and it started bleeding almost immediately. Should I be worried. The procedure damaged nerves and I don t have any feeling long the scar.
Perhaps the act of peeling off flaky skin induced an abrasion at that site which has now crusted over. Don't worry. I advice you not to manipulate it further.
You may apply an OTC topical antibiotic e.g. Mupirocin ointment, twice daily, for a week. The area should be fine in about a week.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
