What Causes Pelvic Pain Despite Taking Antibiotics After Pregnancy Termination?
I am 26 and was a little more than seven weeks pregnant when I got an abortion done by Dilation and Evacuation a day back. Right now, although my bleeding has stopped and the burning sensation while passing urine has subided considerably, I still can feel a bit of pain and pressure every time I urinate or get up from a lying position. I have been put under antibiotics, twice a day, for 5 days. My questions to you are - 1. How long should I abstain from exercises now? 2. Can I take a one hour walk daily now? 3. How long should I abstain from sexual intercourse for? 4. My bleeding has stopped. Can it restart? 5. Why have I been put on contraceptive pills to be taken after dinner for 3 weeks now? Thanks in advance.
OBGYN, Maternal and Fetal Medicine, Dr. MANDAVI RAI's Response
Hello,
In my opinion, you should take antibiotics for one week. There can be intermittent bleeding, and that's why you have been out on oral contraceptive pills. You can start your exercise after four weeks. Plus sexual activity can be done as and when it is comfortable.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
