Hi,
Prostaglandin release at the onset of prelabor and early labor leads to bowel irritability, pain in the pelvis and contraction. Loose stools can be due either to the intestinal hurry or an infection. Please exclude infection if you are not yet into labor. Also, bowel irritability can cause alternating constipation and diarrhea. This can be controlled by avoiding foods that raise the bowel movement and avoiding constipation. Freedom from stress is another factor that often helps. Please have adequate liquids, soft easily digestible diet and sufficient rest. Wish you good health.
