Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son according to the doctor has a uti. He was bleeding from his penis(30yrs old) after doing heavy lifting of about 2400 lbs.of boxes of frozen chickens on the job. It hurts excruciatingly when he urine especially the tip when the last drops of blood drips out. Would the heavy lifting have caused the infection to become worse? Pain only in the lower abdomen. No back or side pain?
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. No, lifting heavyweights can not cause UTI (Urinary tract infection). Renal stone is a common cause for UTI in male with abdominal pain. So get done ultrasound examination of abdomen. If this is normal then no need to worry. UTI usually takes 1-2 weeks time for complete recovery. So tell him to drink plenty of fluids orally. If he is not improving after 2 weeks then get done urine culture to identify the causative organism. Don't worry, he will be alright. Lifting heavyweights is not a cause for his UTI. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your son. Thanks.
