What Causes Periorbital Puffiness?

I have swelling under one eye. If the skin below the eye is pulled down, a yellowish circle can be seen. The interior of the tissue around this area is redder than the same area of the other eye. It s not painful but sore when I blink hard. It doesn t seem to be a stye. What do you think it could be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

This can be due to an allergic reaction called conjunctivitis. Generally, it happens both sides at the same time but there are some cases it may start on one eye first.
As long as there is no eye pain, no vision changes and the eye movements are normal, there is nothing to worry about.
If you develop any of the above symptoms this may indicate a serious cause and warrant an urgent referral.

I hope this is helpful.
I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.

Regards,
