What Causes Peripheral Flashes Of Light In The Left Eye?

My husband has recently been diagnoses with trigeminal neurologa after an MRI with contrast. They said that it was essentially normal, except for a couple of small vessels on the left side of his head looked curly. . He has been on Gabapentin with good results. However, now for the past 2 hours he has noted intermittent peripheral flashes of light in his left eye. His vision is normal, with no headaches or pupil changes. Any advice?
