What Causes Peripheral Vision Loss While On Anastrozole?

I have been on anastrozole for 1 year. I have experienced no bothersome symptoms. I recently was retested for a loss of field (peripheral) vision. I will see an Opthamologist in Oct. Could this be a side effect of anastrozole or the Proleia shot I have taken twice to counteract the anticipated bone loss.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Vision changes is a possible side effect of anastrozole but in your case the loss of peripheral field can be also due to glaucoma which is the most common cause of loss of peripheral vision.

Your doctor might need to do an eye examination with slit lamp and measure the pressure in your eye to make sure which is the cause of your symptoms.

If the eye examination comes out normal (no glaucoma detected) then side effects of medications can be considered.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
