What Causes Persistent Abnormal Sense Of Taste And Smell?

Hello. For about 7/8 months now, my sense of smell and taste has changed for the worse. When I shower, the water smells bad and also things like deodorant, soaps, seems like anything liquidy. I am a cokeaholic and the sodas taste so bad I have to spit them out AND they smell bad. Can you tell me what you think I might be. Its scarying me. Thank you for your response.

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Change in the taste and smell could be caused due to zinc and riboflavin deficiency.
Kindly take Zinc and multi-vitamin supplements for a month.
Also consume Zinc containing foods like oysters, red meat, beans, nuts and whole grains. Also increase intake of riboflavin rich foods like mushroom and cereals.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
