What Causes Persistent Acid Reflux Despite Taking Medication?
I have very bad acid reflux that has not gone away with percription prilsec for over 2 months. Right below that near my waist line I have this really irritable pinching feeling on the left side. First what do you think is the best medicine for acid refux that will not go away. Even a little stress seems to make both problems worse. I am under a lot of stress right now, but have never had acid reflux that wouldn t go away in a few weeks with over the counter previcid, etc. I am on a very strick diet to help the acid reflux which goes from my stomach, into my throat.
Hi and welcome to HCM I hope this will help you You are having gastro-esophageal reflux disease(GERD) characterized by regurgitation of food and acid for stomach in your esophagus.PRILOSEC is a good choice for this condition but as your condition is not improving I would advise you following: Managemen of GERD has two aspects General care.ie. Avoid heavy meals and drinking hot fluids(coffee, tea, soup)afterwards After eating dont lie down ,try to sit upright for sometime after eating Weight reduction Medical treatment: Prilosec contains omeprazole.if once daily dose is not helping much increase the use to twice daily before meals. Antacid syrups available over the counter may also provide some extra help.. If symptoms are not resolving even after this consult a gastroenterologist to plan for endoscopy.. Thanks Dr faeza
