What Causes Persistent Acne After Having Root Canal Treatment?

My daughter (22 yrs old) was hit by a car 2 years ago. As she put it ... my face broke my fall :( She had a concussion, broken nose, damaged teeth. She had root canals and now has braces. PTSD. Memory issues, tremors. Along with this she has developed adult acne which isn t going away. She didn t have this issue before and I m wondering whether her neuroendocrine system could have been sent on a spin by the accident? Or whether she is allergic to her braces? Or if there could be some problem related to root canals? Or is it the fluoride in toothpaste or gremlins ? It all adds to her burden and I would like to be able to offer her some options to explore. Thank-you.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your query Acne occurs due to a few reasons like:
1.Clogged sebaceous glands..
2.Overproduction of sebum from sebaceous glands..
3.Bacterial infections..
4.Hormonal changes..

As per my insight root canal treatment or braces have not been seen to cause acne and you should get her treated by a Dermatologist..

-For acne Isotretinoin cream is used to reduce sebum production and cell proliferation by sebaceous glands.
-Azelic acid containing cream helps in reducing bacterial growth and reduce acne..
-Benzoyl peroxide and Salicylic acid containing ointments can be benificial..
-Muricoprin is an antibiotics that is given to reduce bacterial infection..

Other methods can be use of lazers, chemical peels etc..

But you should first go with the medical treatment before any in office treatment is tried..
You should try for atleast three to four months under supervision of Dermatologist..

Hope this information helps..
