What Causes Persistent Bleeding After Starting Birth Control Pills?
I started birth control in March, the first couple of months everything was normal, my menstral cycles were short, but last month I started my menstral cycle at the beginning of the month & it is now a whole new month & it still has not stopped yet, what do I do ?
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM Persistent bleeding may not be caused by the pills since you had no such problems when you started them.Abnormal menstrual bleeding are common when you start pills but your system is expected to get used to in a few months.Pill may rather make your periods regular and may also be used to treat abnormal uterine bleeding. Your problem is probably caused by a gynecological problem not related to pills.Possible causes may include: -PID/STIs -Uterine/ovarian masses -Ovarian dysfunction. I will suggest you see a Gynecologist for evaluation.A pelvic ultrasound will be very useful in your evaluation and if need be, other work-ups may be requested. Hope this will help you Best regards
