What Causes Persistent Bleeding Post Periods?

I m 22 years old and I ve experienced a numerous of times when my period wouldn t stop. In particular to my ongoing situation, I ve bee bleeding for 17 days now. It stopped for 3 days with no spotting then continued and now I am on my 4 day of the continuation. I just started to cramp again but nothing severe. My period was on for 22 days prior to this most recent one. I went to a gynecologist late September and she advised me to wait 3 cycles and made me an appointment for early December. In the mean time she advised me to go on a diet. I m 5 6 and about 200 pounds. Is the problem my weight? I only ask because I ve been about this size for years and I ve just experienced this problem starting July.

Hello,

As a first line management you can take drugs like tranexamic acid to control bleeding.

If symptoms persists better to consult a gynecologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
