What Causes Persistent Bouts Of Loose Stools?

Hi,
I have had loose stools since last November 2015. I tried omission diet (no dairy; no vitamins, etc.) to no avail. I had a colonoscopy 1 year ago with 3 sessile polyps-non-benign-all removed. I saw my GI about 2 months ago and suggested I eat more fiber, but, still no change. I have no other symptoms except my stool, which I can almost predict happens like clockwork every morning-only once in a blue moon will I have a normal poop-formed, etc.; but, most of the time, it is like chocolate shake or milk or like a cow patty. I have no idea why. H-pylori was negative. What other tests do I need? Do I need to go to an allergist? Is this gluten intolerance? My GI said none of these just to increase fiber, but that didn't work! Thx in advance for any suggestions.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain the symptoms of loose motions can be due to causes like viral gastroenteritis, food poisoning, parasitic infestation, food intolerance, food allergies, laxative abuse, excess intake of tea and coffee, electrolyte imbalance etc..

As of now you should start taking anti diarrhea medication like Loperaminde, take fluid replacement therapy that is drink plenty of oral rehydration salts by dissolving in water and take more of banana, yoghurt, rice and cereals..
Take Tylenol for pain..

In case of no resolution in next 3 to 4 days consult a Gastroenterologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like blood tests and stool culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised antibiotics, Albendazole etc depending upon the cause diagnosed..
If it is due to food allergies the cause will be ruled out and eliminated from your diet..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
