What Causes Persistent Buzzing Sound In Ear Despite Taking Flonase For Tinnitus?

I recently developed tinnitus in my one ear . I am 40 years old and healthy and in good shape . Had an abr test done all is normal. I noticed that when I tip my head back the buzzing subsides sonewhat. When I apply pressure to my sinuses near my nose the sound gets louder. And suggestions of what to do next would be greatly appreciated. As well as any advice on this issue. I am currently taking Flonase as prescribed by my doctor. Thank you, Elizabeth

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have persistent buzzing sound in ear despite taking Flonase for tinnitus which can be cause by many factors like stress , temporomandibular joint problem , wisdom tooth , cervical spondolysis and increase blood pressure. Main cause of tinnitus is either overall increase in blood pressure or local increase in blood pressure do to blood vessel dysfunction. Flonase is a nasal spray containing fluticasone. Fluticasone is corticosteroid. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order certain test like audiometery , CT scan ,MRI , low and high pitched ringing to rule out conditions like hearing loss , exposure to loud noises , earwax build-up , middle ear infection.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
