What Causes Persistent Chest Pain, Tightness In Upper Pectoral Area And Anxiety?

My boyfriend was having chest pain for the second time in 6 mos. when we go to the ER, they do the usual workup and tell him its anxiety. His appetite has changed, and he has tightness in the upper pectoral/sternum area. Could this really just be stress related?
