Dear lady,

Your description has been very accurate. From it, I can assume that your husband has sore throat.
Soar throat can come from viral or from bacterial causes (strep throat in this case, because the bacteria causing it is streptococcus)
In the possibility of a viral infection, temp shouldn't be more than 38.5℃, it should be associated with cough and running nose, and there shouldn't be any pus on yhe tonsils.
In the strep throat scenario, temp is higher than 38.5℃, only the tonsils are affected and you can find pus on them, your husband has chills, headache, feels tired and cant swallow anything due to the pain in the throat.
Strep throat seems the more right diagnosis based on your description.
I would recommend you to give him ice-cream for his throat. Ice lowers the edema and stops bacteria from growing.
I would also recommend some anti-inflamatory drug and a beta-lactam antibiotic such as amoxicilline, but you have to see your GP for this.
As a condition it may last 5-6 days, but if not treated with antibiotics it can have repercussions on the kidneys in the mear future.
Please visit a GP about this.
I hope I have answered your question.
Wish you and your husband good health!
