What Causes Persistent Chronic Pain Under The Ribcage?

Hi, I have pain on my left side in the stomach area under the ribcage. I was wondering if it could possibly be a stomach ulcer. I can not really pinpoint why it is more severe at times but it is a constant dull ache most days. Any insight would be appreciated Thank you, Abbyabb

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Left sided chronic chest pain should be first evaluated for heart and lung diseases.
So first get done ecg, 2d echo, stress test and chest x ray.
If all these are normal then no need to worry for major illnesses.
Sometimes chronic gastritis can also cause similar kind of pain.
So take antacid (pantoprazole) twice daily on empty stomach.
Avoid hot and spicy food. Avoid large meals, instead take frequent small. Avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm.
Don't worry, you will be alright but first rule out heart and lung diseases.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
