What Causes Persistent Cold And Cough?

Hi there, for two weeks I have had symptoms of a cold. It seems to be getting worse rather than better and now I m finding it hard to breathe, my nose and eyes are streaming and I keep coughing. I m wondering if I m actually allergic to something instead?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that allergies are contributing to your symptoms.

Treatment for cold symptoms and allergies are similar.
It would involve: (1) decongestant
This can be oral or topical or both, they are available over the counter

(2)antihistamine- oral antihistamine are also over the counter and may be found in combination with the decongestant

(3)topical steroid nasal spray
You may need a prescription for one of these. Examples are nasonex, nasocort, flonase

(4)if you are aware of any specific triggers for your allergies then you should avoid if possible

I hope this helps

HI
Thanks for posting your query to Healthcaremagic.

Yes , you seem to be having allergy to something , either dust at home or workplace , smoke or pets . And it's essential to find out for what you are allergic . The best way is to get Allergic Skin Prick test done . It will find for what you are allergic to and once we find it avoidance of that allergen or a desensitisation for that allergen will cure your problem .

Kindly get the test done and revert back to me .

Regards .
