Hello,

Yes, I have seen many cases of toddlers frequently falling sick. To those who come to my clinic with similar symptoms, I would advise the following:
1) To treat fever, rather than Ibugesic that may cause gastric irritation, syrup. Calpol is better alternative. It contains paracetamol. It is to be given every 4th or 6th hourly.
2) It's dose is 10-15mg/kg/dose.
3) It's better to use syrup Maxtra as minimal as possible.
4) Steam inhalation is very useful.
5) Nasal saline drops help in decongesting and open up the congested airways. It can be used 3-4 times a day.
6) Warm salt water gargles also would help.

It's better to find out the source from where he is contracting this cold. Mostly schools are the source of infection. So ask him to wear a mask when outside.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,

General & Family Physician Dr. Priyanka's  Response
Hi,

Persistent cold and fever in a toddler can have many causes, including viral or bacterial infections, allergies, or underlying medical conditions. If your son is not responding to treatment and the symptoms are recurring frequently, it is important to follow up with your doctor to determine the underlying cause and make any necessary changes to the treatment plan. Your doctor may need to run additional tests or refer you to a specialist for further evaluation. It is also important to ensure that your son is getting adequate rest, hydration, and nutrition to support his immune system.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
