General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If he is feeling a lot worse then he should re visit the on campus doctor for review.

Since his symptoms have been ongoing for over 2 weeks it is possible that he has the flu or there is a bacterial element to his infection that may require antibiotics.

He should continue to drink fluids and rest along with any additional treatment given.

I hope this helps

General & Family Physician Dr. Vasudha's  Response
Hi,
common cold is mostly allergic/ viral in origin.simple cold usually responds to anti allergic /decongestant combination within 5-7 days,
* cold remaining after that needs investigations & consultation of an ENT specialist. CBC to determine extent of allergy & secondary infection by bacteria.
* Management usually consists of-
- Preventing exposure to allergens/ anti allergic drugs to break allergy cycle.
-Antibiotics ( Althrocin/ doxycyclin ) in case it has spread to sinuses( head ache), the nasal discharge is yellow/thick'
- Steam inhalation helps.
Thanks.
