What Causes Persistent Constipation And Weight Loss Post Knee Replacement Surgery?
I had both knees total replacement 5 weeks sgo. I ve been on vicodin 5 325 1 or two every 4 to 6 hours. Usually take two at night to sleep. It has caused constipation and have to tske a laxative every 3 days. What um concerned about is my lack of appetite. I ve lost 12 lbs in the past 5 weeks. I m 5 9 i weighed 184 and now im at 171 or so. Is this normal im hoping to stop the weight loss.
Constipation may be due to long time bed ridden condition. You will get relief after starting physiotherapy after surgeon opinion. But significant weight loss should be concerned with surgeon. Kindly start with soft diet after dietician consultation. If still you have lack of appetite, consult with nutritionist. This will definitely help you.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
