Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,
Persistent cough for 3 weeks and difficulty breathing suggests lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI).
The antibiotic prescribed to your daughter may not be effective against the infectious agent.
Is there any sputum production?
If there is sputum production, microbiological examination of the sputum is required to identify the micro-organism causing the infection.
If the cough is not accompanied by sputum production, cough suppressants can be used.
Associated vomiting may ne due to infection and symptomatic treatment can be used for this problem.

Thanks and take care
