What Causes Persistent Cough Post A Bypass Surgery?

Hi my dad is having persistent cough with clear phlegm after bypass surgery done in 2005. Doctors say it is normal after heart surgery. These days the cough is not allowing him to sleep. He is also having asthma and hyper tension. Can this cough be cured.

it could be because of the anti hypertensive he's taking. if he's taking a drug that belongs to the group ACE inhibitors, then dry cough is a common side effect. he may change to another group of drug after proper consultation with his physician.
