General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the persistent cough, running nose and headache at age of 5 years indicate underlying sinus infection through usual bacterial pathogen as strep or others causing
underlying irritation and inflammation.

Following measures would help for better recovery:
- Splashing of eyes with cold water
- Deep breathing exercises
- Gargles with salted lukewarm water added peppermint oil
- Continue current medications
- Discuss role and need of antibiotic as azithromycin or similar with her doctor during next scheduled visit
- Avoid exposure to cold air
- Cover cotton plugs inside the ear canal

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
