Hi, I am in my 3rd trimester. Coughing since 2nd month of pregnancy. In last month, two instances where I ran out of breath and had to rush to ER, First time they gave me ventolin and it helped and they concluded it s asthma second time, ventolin was not helping. docs did all kinds of tests and every organ came out clean, now they want to do lung imaging.
Thanks for your question on HCM. I Can understand your situation and problem. In my opinion you should consult pulmonologist and get done 1. PFT (pulmonary function test). 2. Ultrasound examination of chest. PFT is needed for the diagnosis of asthma. It will also tell you about severity of the asthma. And treatment is based on severity only. So PFT is must for you. Chest x ray is contraindicated in pregnancy. So better to get done ultrasound examination as it is safe in pregnancy and can diagnose pneumonia and pleural effusion. Ventorlin is having levosalbutamol. It is short acting beta 2 agonist (SABA) and action lasts for only 2-3 hours. So better to start long acting beta 2 agonist (LABA) as its effect lasts for 10-12 hours. So consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
