What Causes Persistent Depression Despite Taking Lexapro?

i have been taking lexapro for years and it has worked well until lately. My depression seems to not be effected by the lexapro but is keeping my anxiety at bay. i need to change but want to make sure what I change to also treats anxiety. what would you recommend?

Hi,

For depression you are using good drug that is Citalopram. Now your depression seems to be worsen along with anxiety component. So to treat anxiety Benzodizepine group of drugs like Alprazolam can be prescribed for short duration like one month and then gradually tapered.

Meanwhile Fluoxetine or Escitalopram like drug that you are taking can be prescribed for long time. Behavioural counselling also beneficial in depression. I suggest you consult good psychiatrist for counselling.
