Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Persistent Discomfort In Upper Abdomen After Eating Or Drinking?
Over the last 3 to 4 months, Ive had an increasing level of discomfort in the upper abdomen. It feels as though there s a balloon inflated. It is especially apparent after eating or drinking even small amounts of food. I m a very active individual. I am 5 9 and weigh 185. I m not overweight looking and I work out a few days a week. i don t smoke and do not drink a lot. I have seen my primary physician about this a couple months ago. He told me to try and treat it like indigestion with some over the counter stuff and gasX. That gave a minor relief but not significant or lasting. The condition seems to be getting worse. I have an appointment with a Gastro doc this Friday. However, I would appreciate knowing any potential questions he may ask so that over the next 6 days before the appointment I can monitor for any signs that may answer any questions. Thank you

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
The doctor would enquire about your bowel habit, any burning sensation after food, any food allergies you have, along with the habit of eating spicy food, indulging in alcohol, etc. You can try with Tab. Gelusil over the counter, suck two tablets two to three times a day. It would help you till you meet the expert.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
