Hello,

Sometimes, skin abscess especially Staph infection is very difficult to treat. That is because the anatomy of this bacteria with forming external shield (capsule) not allowing all types of medicines (antibiotics) to run their function. This is the cause of treatment failure. Vancomycin is the treatment of choice together penicillin for long term. This explains why antibiotics have been prescribed so often to you. Just follow the prescription and take good care of the wound area. Do discuss with your doctor if changing antibiotics will help succeed in abscess treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
