What Causes Persistent Dry Cough With Sensation Of Tightness In The Chest?

What started as an irritating tickle in my throat last week has developed into what I can only describe as a tight chest. It feels as if there is a weight pressing down. I still have the dry cough but am not coughing anything up. I had a heart bypass in 2012 and have Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy so don t feel I should self medicate but getting an appointment with my GP is difficult. Any thoughts / suggestions

Your symptom of weight pressing on chest is possibly dangerous sign. Especially when you are known case of coronary artery disease and undergone bypass surgery. So go for consultation as soon as possible. If appointment is not available, go to emergency department. But please don't underestimate these symptoms. Till you meet your doctor, make sure you do not over exert yourself physically. Do not lift weight, do not exercise, and do not over exert while passing stools. Take care..
