What Causes Persistent Ear Pain, swelling Of Face And Heaviness In Head?

I have a persistent ear ache in my right ear, visited GP got antibiotics but didn t help pain at all, he said it is a virus and now have nasal spray , this hasn t helped either. My eardrums ok, no discharge. Swollen glands, pain down side of face and cheekbone and right eye, plus when I put ear drops in initially they came out my eye. My head feels heavy on that side.. 10 years ago I had an injury and orbital blowout fracture but it was on the other side..I have to take a high dose of painkillers to ease the pain..The ear aches getting me down now what can it be!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Consult an ENT specialist for expert advise after investigations. I can think of sinus involvement with throat, neck position too. Culture and sensitivity test of throat swab or nasal mucus can find type of bacteria can be staphylococcus which is known to cause long standing spreading infection.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
