Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Persistent Facial Numbness, Nausea And Headache?
My wife has has numbness in her face for about 2 weeks, and 1 nausea episode and headaches for a couple of weeks ranging from the initial headache prettyp severe, and mid level or minor everyday since. CT Scan scheduled for tomorrow and appt. with Neurologist. Are there truly more than a few things that can be attributed to these symptoms?
This is a case of nervous disorder most probably which had effected facial nerve. This can cause loss of sensations on one side of face, difficulty in eating, drooling of saliva etc.
This nervous disorder can be due to various reasons which are:
Ear infection.
Viral infection.
High blood pressure.
Hypoxia due to any respiratory distress or moving to high altitude. Lesion in the brain compressing facial nerve.
Trauma to head.
If you can forward further history, it can be precisely diagnosed and cause can be identified. CT scan or MRI may be needed to find if there is any lesion or aneurysm in brain which is compressing facial nerve. You do not worry, go for tests which doctor has advised so that it can be properly treated.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
